Hi all

Here is the information for the walk we did on Saturday 26th January. The walkers were Coatsie, Radders, Will, John and Michael. Grete joined us back at the house on our return.

We left the Janes' house at around 1pm. The reason we left late was that those of us who had to travel a distance to the house had to drive slowly given the snowy conditions on the road.

As you can see, we were walking in very wintry conditions, so we had already decided to keep to the roads and paths, rather than attempt to go across country

We walked up Darkie Meadow to Bunbury Lane, and headed towards the village.

The Church looks particulary beautiful when seen across a field blanketed in snow.
We turned off and walked across the playing field to Wych Lane, following that to reach Birds Lane then on to the junction with Bowe's Gate Road.
We turned right, and walked to the canal, where we left the road to walk along it's bank.

Following the towpath we passed a number of houseboats (one of which was inhabited by ferrets!) and locks, and walked under Tilstone Bank Lane.

Eventually we reached the A40 near to the railway bridge (we knew the railway was there as we had seen a number of trains passing).

We followed the A49 up the hill to School Lane, eventually reaching the village, and back down Darkie Meadow to the Jane's house.

A very enjoyable 6 mile walk, and the company was wonderful!

Thank you very much to all concerned (and my Chilli Baked Potato tea, followed by my Chocolate Birthday Cake was very welcome).
